Hackerspace Charlotte is announcing a call for makers for the Charlotte Mini Maker Faire Charlotte on October 8th 2016. The event will last from 9am- 4pm at Discovery Place in uptown.
Make Magazine describes a Mini Maker Faire as “A one-day celebration of creative making. An event to host exhibitors, vendors, workshop teachers, speakers and performers from across the region. Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth — a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.”
Hackerspace Charlotte is a place where people with common interests in computers, technology, and/or digital/electronic art can meet, socialize and collaborate. We are also a community lab incorporating elements of a machine shop, workshop, classroom, and studio where all kinds of makers, tinkerers, and hackers can come together and “Make cool stuff with technology.”
We are recruiting makers to inform, display, and educate others in our community about their craft and projects. Our goal is to demonstrate what it means to be a maker/hacker.We also want to use this event is to inspire, interact, and connect the community and show them the increasing availability of tools and technology for anyone to create and repurpose innovative tools, technology, and art.
As a volunteer maker, you will get the chance to show off what you’re knowledge and what you’re making to the Charlotte and surrounding community. This event is to promote the maker revolution in the areas of science, art, and technology. Are you interested in participating? Here is a list of applicable topics that we’re looking for: student projects, robotics, homegrown drones, Arduino projects, Raspberry Pi projects, space projects, conductive materials projects, kit makers, interactive art projects, 3D printers and CNC mills, home energy monitoring, rockets and RC Toys, ham radios, science, biology/biotech, and chemistry projects, unique tools or machines, and/or how to fix things or take them apart.
If you have a project you would like to present at the Hackerspace Charlotte booth please contact Cindy@hackerspacecharlotte.org with details of your project or interest in volunteering at the event.
