Charlotte, July 29, 2017 – The building Hackerspace Charlotte (HSC) occupies is being demolished. Following a strategic review of the HSC relocation efforts, the HSC board concluded that despite efforts to find a suitable new space, they weren’t likely to succeed. As a result, the HSC board has closed the 1111D Hawthorne ln location and has begun the disillusionment process for the HSC organization.
The HSC board will be divvying up the existing HSC assets to like minded non-profit organizations. HSC Social media landing pages will be preserved in an attempt to assist the existing community in maintaining links to alternate relevant feeds of information for the area’s maker community.
August 5th and 6th will be the final days for those of you with equipment or stored projects at the space. Please contact boardmembers@hackerspacecharlotte.com to make arrangements to pick up your things outside of these dates. Any items inside the HSC building on August 7th will become property of Hackerspace Charlotte.
The HSC board expresses their gratitude for those of you who contributed to Hackerspace Charlotte over the past 7 year. The Charlotte area is lucky to have such an active community of hackers and makers.
